Welcome, Alex!

I have a LinkedIn profile. It's somewhat up to date. There's no mention of Pocket Tutor, or any of my development work I've done for Pocket Tutor on my profile. I've never 'posted'. And I usually ignore almost every LinkedIn email notification that sneaks into my inbox (yet clearly too lazy to actually turn the notification off!). Which is why this next part is so amazing...

I almost deleted this email. I've deleted hundreds of these notifications in the past. But I've known Alex since we were kids. We played in bands together through high school. I used to pick him up every Saturday, squeeze his double bass into my tiny Ford Festiva, and drive to rehearsal. We went to uni together, and I hadn't seen him much after that.
Alex moved to Los Angeles in 2014, and I was so happy to see him kicking some serious musical goals. Every now and again I'd see a picture of him on Facebook with another jazz heavy-hitter. So when I saw the above email came in, my curiosity got the better of me - I wanted to know who he was playing with now. Instead...

My first reaction was one of bewilderment.
"Dude, what!?"
I messaged him immediately, kind of just to see if this was for real. It was almost as far from April 1st as it could be, yet I still couldn't quite understand what I was looking at. We hopped onto Zoom, and Alex started spouting terminology that I myself had recently been learning. We started talking, and it quickly became apparent that Alex was going to be more than capable in helping us to build Pocket Tutor 1.0.
I've built the beta of Pocket Tutor using a suite of 'no-code' or 'low-code' tools, which have been incredible for me to be able to get something out the door. However, at some point the platform was always going to have to be written in code. Bringing someone on board with Alex's skill set on is the first step to building out Pocket Tutor for the future. The current beta version of Pocket Tutor is secure and robust enough to start making your career as a private tutor a much more enjoyable experience, while work is underway on Pocket Tutor 1.0.
